The drawing
A dramatic biblical scene depicting Queen Esther approaching King Ahasuerus to plead for her people. Esther kneels at the center before the enthroned king, who extends his scepter toward her. A bearded attendant stands at left with outstretched arms, while several courtiers gather behind Esther. Bold pen lines, dark hatching, and broad areas of wash emphasize the figures' gestures and flowing garments.
