The drawing
A biblical scene depicting Christ confronted by religious authorities over the payment of taxes to Caesar (Matthew 22:15–22). Christ stands near the center, gesturing toward a coin presented by a bearded figure at right, while disciples and other observers gather around him. The foreground figures are rendered with confident pen lines and dark hatching, while the architecture and additional figures in the background remain lightly sketched.
