The drawing

A full-length depiction of the Virgin Mary standing with the Christ Child supported on her left arm. Mary wears a long veil and flowing robes, her head inclined slightly toward the child. The infant sits close against her shoulder, while her right hand gathers the fabric at her chest. The figures are rendered in fine brown lines and soft washes, with heavier shading defining the folds of Mary's garments. A thin rectangular border encloses the composition against an otherwise plain background.
